Aquaman 2's James Wan recovering after hospitalisation

Dec 03, 2023

"It has been an extremely rough and scary couple of days and nights."

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Furious 7 director James Wan is recovering in hospital after being rushed to ER earlier in the week.

Wan's wife Ingrid Bisu made an Instagram Story on her husband's account (which has been screenshotted and shared by a DC fan page) explaining the situation.

"It has been an extremely rough and scary couple of days and nights," she wrote.

"You never want to rush to the ER in the middle of the night and then have to stay in the hospital. Cedars Sinai [Medical Centre, Los Angeles] is truly the best!! The best doctors, nurses, technicians, just the most wonderful people. James is safe now and on the mend."

Although the first Aquaman and Furious 7 are far and away Wan's biggest performing films in terms of box office numbers, he is primarily a horror director and producer, known for the Saw and The Conjuring franchises.

2021 saw the release of his film Malignant, an original film not connected to any shared universe. Late last year, he talked about the hopes of it getting a sequel, but explained that it might be a bit of a wait before it comes to fruition.

"Let me just say we have a lot of stuff going on right now. Malignant 2 is not necessarily at the top. But we're definitely keeping Akela [Cooper, who wrote Malignant] very busy, I can tell you that," he said.

One thing keeping Cooper busy is the recently greenlit sequel to M3GAN, which will bring back multiple actors from the first film, which became something of a viral sensation earlier this year.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom currently has a release date of December 25, 2023 in the US and December 29, 2023 in the UK.
